A basic Fair Isle pattern is bordered with Latvian braids in a smaller circumference cowl to make a neck-warmer that’s just right! Learn a two-color cast on and the Latvian braid. Follow that with a simple fairisle pattern and close with three more Latvian braids. Watch the color change in the Ombre Minikins as you go, giving you an engaging and entertaining project in a manageable size.

Hit the festival circuit, the garden party or the beach in Cigne – a fun lacy halter top worked in one Freia Superwash Sport full size ball and two matching Minikins for the bra cups. Shaped cups ensure good coverage, and a hidden elastic attached below the bust keeps the fit snug at the body. The top is worked in the round to the upper rib cage, each cup is worked flat in plain stitch with shaping which then decreases to form the straps.

A long plain scarf that isn’t plain!
What’s In a Name?
Ziazan is an Armenian given name meaning “rainbow”. This design is a deeper dive into color with simple shaping as seen originally in the Brimfield scarf. You will be working a pattern repeat consisting of a series of alternating increases and decreases in two different scales (it’s simpler than it sounds!). It’s an enjoyable, memorable pattern with satisfying results. The rapid color changes of the minikins keep it all interesting and engaging. If you choose to pick your own colors, I recommend picking balls that have a strong contrast in the end colors to emphasize the stripe at each ball change.
ERRATA (corrected in all versions as of 8/24/24) : Row 1 – after stitch pattern should read “repeat three more times from start of row”

I named this pattern Libra as it reminded me of a scale, swinging back and forth, in and out of equilibrium with each added panel. It is worked with one minikin being used from start to finish for each panel and is reminiscent of a log cabin quilt design, with progressively built segments. I’ve worked it here using 6 Superwash Sport Minikins but you could easily add more Minikins to make a bigger shawl or sub in our Fingering Minikins for a non-superwash version. This is a fun, hard-to-put-down and very portable project! Designed by Tina Whitmore. Pattern delivered as a PDF available immediately after purchase, for you to download, save and print at home.

Bambino brings together two of my favorite stitch patterns – the zigzag and the fan and feather. Both patterns are created with increasing and decreasing your stitches but one has a very different look from the other. Both are easy enough to memorize to make this a fun, casual knitting project. Add in the bright and colorful gradient minikins in a plump, sportweight superwash yarn and you get a perfect little baby blanket. I’ve given you size options to go smaller or larger, but there is really no limit (go ahead – make that wild King size bedspread, I know it’s on my list!).

We love this honeycomb stitch so much that we went head to toe with it! Here’s the Asali Beanie worked in the familiar stitch we did in the matching Asali Shawl and Asali Socks. This cute hat knits up in a couple of evenings using two contrasting Superwash Sport Merino Minikins.
