  • Angle Shades Shawl Pattern

    $5.50

“I like the form follows function design concept and so does nature. In this design, inspired by the angle shades moth, the center triangle, the “body”, naturally creates a shaping for the “wings”, making the shawl easier to wear. And the mitered triangles take full advantage of the color in the yarns, adding a little ornament to the form.”

  • Antherea Shawl Pattern

    $5.50

Antherea is a genus of moth which includes silk moths. The wingspan of the shawl echoes the curvature of the moths’ wings while the ombré yarn provides the markings. The way shapes and colors combine in nature are a big source of inspiration for me, the world of insects is particularly rich in ideas.

  • Archer Scarf and Shawl Pattern

Gradients transition along a tall arrow for a fun scarf or dramatic wrap. Two colorways are worked in a simple intarsia pattern. Tassels dangle from each of the three points.

Worked in garter stitch, on the bias, the shawl/scarf is cast on at the fletched end of the arrow and worked towards the tip. Fully reversible with colour blocks separated by lines of eyelet and meet in the centre using intarsia. This is an excellent beginner’s intarsia project.

  • Arrowhead Wrap Pattern

    $5.50

Arrowhead is a long equilateral pentagonal shaped scarf with bold arrowhead graphics, emphasized by short but intense gradient colorways. Confident beginners will find the pattern simple enough with its paired rhythmic increases and decreases. Knitters of all levels will enjoy watching the colors transition in this meditative project. The end result is an oversized wrap in our soft and lofty merino that you will snuggle into all season long!

For the sample shown here, I’ve paired the gorgeously bright pinks and oranges of Wildflower with Anubis and one of my favorite neutrals, Oyster. Our wild Wildflower not your pick? We love the idea of pairing the dark and light neutrals with pretty much any of our colorful gradients.

  • Asali Shawl Pattern

    $5.50

A triangular Honeycomb slipstitch shawl with a wide ribbed border designed specifically for our new super soft and squishy Ombre Shaniko Merino Worsted 150g balls.

    What’s In a Name?

Asali is “honey-like” or “sweet like honey” in Arabic, Persian, Urdu and Swahili. The design is inspired by my recent trip to Egypt. Beekeeping has been documented by Ancient Egyptians in the hieroglyphs. Aswan – the blue-green gradient is named after the beautiful desert/oasis city and Anubis the brown/black gradient is named after the Egyptian Jackal God.

Worked from cast-on edge/corner out, increasing stitches along one edge. One color is used at a time with the pattern created in an easy to memorize slip-stitch. A loose rib border is worked in the final step. You will use all the yarn available to you, but your size may vary based on gauge. Shawl will grow substantially with blocking, so check gauge on blocked swatch.

  • Forever Together Shawl Pattern

    $5.50

Two lace patterns are joined along the full length of this oversized shawl, one pattern expands as the other recedes.

    What’s in a name?
This pattern is in memoriam of my first dog Freia (and the company namesake) who passed in January 2018 at the age of 12 after a brave battle with kidney failure. She had left behind her “brother” Cody who had been diagnosed with Canine Lymphoma a few months earlier. Cody was 8 years Freia’s junior and was born with chronic anxiety. I adopted him from rescue at 9 months of age and Freia, unlike her normal dominant contrarian ways, also adopted him unconditionally from the moment they met. He grew more confident under Freia’s wing, but sadly only outlived his sister by 3 months. They were inseparable and I believe they remain so. The designing and knitting of this shawl helped me work through the loss of my two dogs. It mimics their personalities, one complex yet receding, one simple and expanding.
Both pups were Chesapeake Bay Retrievers and I have since adopted 2 other Chessie rescues, Rosie and Axel. Rosie has passed on now as well but Axel lives on in his mischievous Chessie ways, snoopervising our work at the studio. For every sale of this pattern $1 is donated to American Chesapeake Bay Retriever Club to help them continue their amazing dedicated rescue work for this unique, challenging and iconic American breed of dog.

  • Highlands Scarf Pattern

    $5.50

The Highlands Scarf is inspired by the expansive views of the infinite rolling hills in the Berkshires where I live as well as my memories of travels through the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. That these mountains and valleys were linked a hundred million years ago is no surprise given their similar appearance.

As shown, the scarf calls for 9 minikins with the color sequence listed here first as color name and then starting color end:

    Main Color / MC:

    1. Aswan (green),
    2. Mist (blue),
    3. Cloud (light grey),
    4. Sobek (black),
    5. Oyster (yellow),
    6. Damask (tan)

    Contrast Color / CC:

    1. Canyon (brown),
    2. Woodsman (blue/grey),
    3. Harvest (brown)

I have chosen minikins that match color from one ball to the next and that also contrast strongly with the stripe colors.

For this pattern, with the short rows all worked in Garter stitch (K every row) you will not need to pick up the wraps as you would with short rows worked in stockinette stitch.
