Sirene Sweater Kit

Designed by our very own Leah Chapman. This mermaid inspired sweater combines fair-isle patterning with the magic of ombré yarn. The bright mint fish-scale pattern on the yoke and sleeves blends slowly into a deep grey-green body. The sweater is knit from the top down in one piece, so there are no seams to sew and you can try it on and adjust the fit as you go. Originally worked in our long ago retired (wool/nylon) sock yarn this top-down sweater is a perfect project for our new lusciously soft Shaniko Fingering. We’ve assembled some color options to maximize the smooth color transition from the gradient to solids.

“Choose your size based on how you want the sweater to fit. I recommend choosing a size with a bust measurement approximately equal to your own for a fitted look. The sweater is constructed with shaping in the waist and a slightly looser fit around the hips. The yarn is quite elastic, so you can go up or down 2 inches from your measurements and still get a nicely fitted sweater. The length can easily be adjusted at several points if you try on as you go.

Each bundle contains sufficient gradient yarn for the yoke and sleeves and semi-solid yarn to make the size as written, lengthening the body may require a bit more yarn. Variations in gauge and size from the pattern will affect your yarn requirements. If you would like to modify the pattern we suggest ordering an extra semi-solid at the same time as you place your original order to ensure we are able to match the semi-solids as closely as possible.
