Description

This is our first single-ply fingering yarn, and our first yarn in a luscious, lovely 100% merino. It has an against-the-skin softness for neckwear and perfectly complements our single-ply worsted and sport offerings. Then there’s the feel-good manufacturing: this is a mulesing-free merino, grown and spun in the United States to our own specifications. Though exceptional stitch-definition has long been a hallmark of our single-ply yarns, the loftiness of this Merino Fingering is particularly versatile, lending itself to be stitched up in a variety of gauges without losing definition or drape. Voracious Freia fans will be perhaps most excited by the upgraded yardage. These 100 gram “Shawl Balls” measure 430 yards, perfect for single-skein projects.

In every batch of yarn we dye there are generally a couple skeins that just aren’t up to snuff. Often we use our rejects to make knitted samples, but we have accumulated a lot and need to get rid of them!

    I purchased the shawl balls in Giza and Apple Blossom colorways and both were so beautiful!! The slow gradient transitions are so fun to knit with. The fingering weight single ply is soft in hand and results in a lovely fabric. I absolutely love Freia yarns!! I can’t find what’s irregular about the balls, they are beautiful!! 😍
